About Dance Links: Making Links
Dance Links is an initiative, funded through the PE, School Sport and Club Links Strategy (PESSCL), which aims to improve links between schools and dance providers. Led by Youth Dance England, the project aims to increase the number of young people participating in dance beyond school, and to enhance the choice and quality of their experience in order to increase the likelihood of their maintaining life-long participation in dance.
London Youth Dance and the Royal Academy of Dance have joined forces to deliver the National Dance Teachers Association / Youth Dance England Dance Links: Making Links course, designed to equip dance practitioners with the skills needed to teach in schools.
Although courses are taking place nationwide, in London the course has been adapted to meet the needs of the RAD who are looking to employ practitioners for their Step into Dance initiative. The original two day course has been extended to three days and will now include a practical session in addition to the original theory day and marketplace.
The first two days of the course took place in September. Subjects covered throughout the event included best practice for planning, delivery and evaluation of dance projects within the curriculum and after school, and looking at tools to use in a classroom/workshop environment, including behavior management.
"Overall a fantastic 2 days - I have a lot to take away with me and feel very inspired - thank you!"

Day Three: 14 January 2008, Sadler’s Wells
An opportunity to reflect further on your practice and professional development needs, followed by a ‘marketplace’ where you will be able to meet, talk and network with representatives from London schools.
